    Kari,

    ClO2 is an approved sanitizer. As for the effectiveness, that is
    currently under research, but it appears very effective for certain
    applications, but expensive. Several fisherman/processors as well as
    the University of Alaska are doing experiments right now to extent hold
    time of fish on the boat and extend shelf life of finished product.
