Recently we have been getting a lot of email regarding the ability read PDF files from NMFS web pages. This is not a proble with the pages but is a bug problem in the Adobe Acrobat software. The proble is described as follows:

The problem is people are get a blank page when they try to view a PDF file after clicking on a link to a PDF file. This problem occurs when Adobe Acrobat Reader opens inside of your browser window rather than as a separate application.

Solution: Adobe provides these two options to try.

    Save the file
Position the mouse over the link and right-click (a pop-up menu will appear).
    Click "Save Target As"·
In the File Name box, type a name for the file (or use the default filename), and then click Save.
Once the file is saved on your computer, start Acrobat Reader and open the file you have just saved.

    Re-configure your Acrobat reader settings
    Open the Acrobat Reader application
Click on the "File" item on your menu bar
    Choose "Preferences" item
    Select the "General" preferences
Go to the "Options" box at the bottom of this window
De-select the Web Browser Integration item
    Click the OK buton.
    Close Acobat Reader.
    Close your Browser.
Please note: by removing the web browser integration, you will no longer be able follow links from the PDF document to other items on the Internet. You will be able to follow the internal PDF document links.
