Dear Robert, Seafood Listserv Subscribers, and UCD Postmaster:

Via this message, I'm asking the UCD Postmaster to please delete the
following two messages that contain a worm/virus from the seafood
    listserv archives:

6/29/01 "Related to Seafood Inspection" (re: hpdsx exe)
6/30/01 "De La Politica De La" (re: offprov exe)

I have unsusbscribed the senders who may have unknowingly transmitted the
virus/worm. They are welcome to resubscribe after they have disinfected
    their computers.

Unfortunately, the listserv at UC Davis allows ALL messages to be
transmitted. The UC Davis policy does not allow for any screening or
filtering of attachments. Not all attachments that go through the
listserv contain a virus/worm. We do not pre-monitor messages that go
through the listserv. Subscribers' messages are automatically distributed
    via seafood@ucdavis.edu.

Believe me, as the listserv co-owner, if I could do something to dismantle
the worm/virus attachments, I would. I have ended up with hundreds of
rejected messages from subscribers with firewalls that are bouncing back
    error messages to my mailbox.

The only advice that I can offer to our subscribers is to be sure that
your computer is installed with current antivirus software.

An alternative to subscribing to this listserv is to review the messages
at your leisure via our archives which are located at:
    http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/listserv/listserv.htm

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Pamela Tom, Univ. of Calif. Sea Grant Extension Program, Listserv Co-owner
