Subject: Enquiry on Gel ice
We,M/s Anwar Al-Bahar Marine Products Enterprises,is operating in Salalah
,Oman to export mainly fresh whole and dressed fish to all over the
world. In order to reduce the heaviness and ineffectiveness of wet ice
during air freight we would like to practice gel ice pads. If so what will
be the ratio of gel ice to fish to be maintained while transportation for
getting 48hrs chilled condition(1-4oC) with fish having temp.3-5 oC? We
know that the ingredients range from food grade cellulose gum (approved by
FDA) to certain hydrocarbons -which is most suitable as far as safety and
cost effectiveness are concerned? Can you please suggest the mode of
packing to effect zero contamination? Is it possible to make gel ice pads
within our facility using suitable ingredients?
Expecting reply at your earliest convenience,
Thanking you,
Faithfully yours,
Binoy.E.B.
