Gastropod Tissue Pigments

I'm having difficulty identifying a water soluble pigment recovered from the tissue of a species of gastropod. I suspect it is a phycobiliprotein (biliprotein) complex derived from an algal diet source. I need to find a qualitative (hopefully simple) analytical technique that will allow me to confirm the class of compound. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience in this field.

    Thanks,
