POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
DEPARTMENT OF FOOD SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY
POSITION: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor, Department of Food
Science and Technology, Tenure Track, 12 month position.
STARTING DATE: July 1, 2001 or as negotiated.
LOCATION: Mississippi State University, Starkville, Mississippi. The
campus is located in northeastern Mississippi approximately 120 miles from
Jackson, Mississippi and 135 miles from Birmingham, Alabama.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Appointment will be 70% research and 30% teaching in the
area of molecular microbiology or molecular food science especially as
related to food/dairy microbiology, food fermentation, or toxicology. The
teaching responsibilities include directing workshops and seminars and
advising undergraduates as well as agreed-upon courses.
The research responsibilities include developing research proposals suitable
to attract external funding in addition to support from the Mississippi
Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station (MAFES), conducting independent
research and directing the appropriate research program/personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS: The qualifications for the position are: Ph.D. in
food/dairy science or closely related field. Prior experience in food or
dairy microbiology, molecular biotechnology and/or food or dairy processing
will be preferred but not mandatory.
SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with background and experience.
