    Subject: Carchatoxins?

Yasumoto (1998) reports two toxins (Carchatoxins A and B) that were the probably the cause of an outbreak of food poisoning in Madagascar (in 1993 I think). However, whilst there is chromatographic data for the toxins there is no molecular characterisation. Has anyone done any further research on these or know of any other instances where these Carcharatoxins have been implicated in poisoning? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.
    Marc
