    Group,

Plan now to attend the Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference (AFTC) 2000 in Ocean City, Maryland. Log onto http://www.mdsg.umd.edu/AFTC/ to register, submit an abstract for a talk or poster, make hotel reservations, reserve exhibition space and learn important details for getting to Ocean City and enjoying your stay. Depending on the number of volunteered presentations, the entire first day may be joint with the Interstate Seafood Seminar (ISS). Take a look at the preliminary program online. Whether you register for AFTC or ISS, you are invited to attend any of the sessions. Many of you should receive printed registration materials soon (mailed 9-22-00) but don't delay.

Call for Papers -- We are looking for presentations on processing technologies, pathogens (control strategies, analytical methods, indicators, etc.), regulatory issues, fishery stock assessments, habitat/environmental updates and other topics of interest to individuals in a variety of seafood fields (academia, regulatory and industry). So log on and submit an abstract. The program committee will notify individuals selected to present at the meetings.

Suppliers -- Here's an opportunity to exhibit your products or services and to meet with seafood professionals and industry. We also have an opportunity for firm's interested in sponsoring an event (breaks, meals, socials).

I hope to see you in Ocean City, Nov. 28-Dec. 1.

    Tom
