    Hi HACCP Subscribers,

It's been awhile since I've had to play listserv police.

I want to clarify that I did not review the final content of the last post
re: Subject: FYI - FREE Resource for JOB Postings and a Robust/Searchable
Seafood HACCP Forum with CHAT Facility - Fisheryxchange.com

I feel that the following statement gives the impression that I'm
endorsing the service. I read it the same time as everyone else on this
    listserv:

"Exchanged e-mails with Pam about this. Want to make everyone aware that
there is a FREE resource available to all of you in the Seafood HACCP
community. It is here that you can now post JOB openings.
    http://www.fisheryxchange.com/jobs-index.htm

There is also a new Seafood HACCP Discussion Forum that is robust and
searchable which can be used in conjunction with this Listserv."

Basically, my e-mail exchange was to WARN against advertising and to tone
    the message down.

A reminder, if you are looking for Seafood HACCP information, you can go
to the following pages on our website:

    http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/haccp/compendium/compend.htm Compendium
    http://seafood.ucdavis.edu/guidelines/guidelin.htm Guidelines & Regs.

The following is a reminder of our policies.

THE SEAFOOD NETWORK AT UC DAVIS

The primary purpose of this Internet based seafood network is to
facilitate information exchange about the Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Point (HACCP) system of food safety control in the seafood industry.

The listserv uses e-mail to convey HACCP and seafood related information
to network subscribers. Seafood industry and regulatory information
and inquiries are also encouraged on this network.

It has become apparent that some network users may not realize that the
    e-mail address, seafood@ucdavis.edu, automatically distributes a message
    to over 850+ subscribers worldwide.

By all means, if you want everyone on the seafood network to read your
message, address it to seafood@ucdavis.edu To communicate privately as a
follow-up, please respond to the individual's e-mail address that is
    listed on the message.

The seafood listserv and World Wide Web home page are administered by
Robert Price (Seafood Technology Extension Specialist, Sea Grant Extension
Program at UC Davis - rjprice@ucdavis.edu) and managed by Pamela Tom
    (Program Representative).

For the seafood listserv there is a University of California policy
    AGAINST:
-commercial activity (promoting products and services)
-Cross posting of messages from other mailing lists or bulletin
             boards

ACCEPTABLE content on the listserv includes:
-Seafood conferences, short courses and workshops on HACCP, seafood
     quality, etc.
-Short announcements for seafood proceedings and publications
-Job opportunities in the seafood technology field
-Industry inquiries on seafood processing and safety issues
    -Seafood regulatory issues

page on the World Wide Web. The URL address is

To SUBSCRIBE to the seafood listserv, address your request to:

    listproc@ucdavis.edu

The message text should follow this format:

subscribe seafood [your first name] [your last name]

To UNSUBSCRIBE address your request to:

    listproc@ucdavis.edu

In the message text just type:

    unsubscribe seafood

AFTER you are subscribed, there is an option to control the stream of
messages via the HACCP mailing list. Instead of receiving them
individually, you can request that they be accumulated into a digest which
arrives in one e-mail message (usually on a daily basis).

Only the subscriber can request this change. You need to send a message
    to listproc@ucdavis.edu

In the message text, simply type:

    set seafood mail digest

Subscribing, unsubscribing and digesting are done automatically by the
computer. If you add any other types of messages with your e-mail request,
    the computer rejects your request.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to
contact either Robert Price (rjprice@ucdavis.edu) or me (pdtom@ucdavis.edu).
