Table salt is about 99% sodium chloride, which itself is 39.34% sodium. The
combined factor is 38.95%.
If you are worried about sodium on the nutritional label, there is a 20%
tolerance in the numbers. So don't worry about minor issues such as small
amounts of water, sodium iodide or sodium ferrocyanide in the salt. The
effect is insignificant and would in any event be obscured by the label
rounding rules.
