    Dear Listers:
Thank you, Peter for a very reasoned and extensive comment regarding this
saga. I must also state that I cautiously admire Marion for perseverence in
the face of the attenpts to guide him or her into some sense of reason.

No, Marion I said that I would sit in the sun and eat smoked fish, not
    Quarter-Pounders. Anywayway, I prefer Whoppers.

Regarding the sudden revelation that Dendritic Salt contains YPS, I spent
eight years in a potato chip plant QC & R&D position when Dendritic was
introduced in the 1960's! There was no secret--it was plainly labelled as
such, and the effect of the YPS was to produce the dendritic crystal with
its irregular shape, which not only gave it anti-caking properties, but
increased its adherance to the chip and thereby reduced salt usage.

I'm sure that Morton or Cargill could give us adequate background data
regarding the safety of this additive. By the way, I always try to keep my
potato chips away from direct sunlight or fluorescent light--but only to
prevent rancidity, not unfounded CN fears.

    Paul
