Squid

I am hoping someone might be able to help me.

We have recently imported some Argentinian (Illex) Squid which was
processed on a Taiwanese Jigger. On the outer edge of one of the frozen
blocks of tubes I have noticed some small round white "eggs". I am trying
to find out what they are as I have never seen anything like this before
on squid. They weren't embedded in the tube or part of the block - just
on the edge (easy to scrape off). They are approx 1mm in diameter and are
white (not opaque). I estimate there would be well over 1000 on this
    block.

    Thank-you for any suggestions.
