Just to let you folks know, my son's computer was hit by PrettyPark a few
days ago, and he didn't even realize that he had opened the attachment. I
realized it when it hit my work computer, but luckily, I knew what it was
and immediately deleted it. However, my son's computer was infected, and
when I ran an updated scan with Norton, Norton found the FILES32.vxd file as
infected. However, Norton could not repair it, so I (ugh!) deleted the
file. Then, no application in my computer would open! I tried everything,
and have ended up doing an fdisk and reformatting the drive. Luckily, there
was'nt much data on the hard drive that had to be saved. Apparently, the
damage done to the registry caused the problem. I wish that I had had
Fernando's info then! I didn't find it on Norton at that time. Moral:
don't delete that file if there is another way!
Best regards,
