Year 2000 Annual Meeting of the Pacific Fisheries Technologists

FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS
Don Kramer (PFT President) and Chuck Crapo (PFT Program Chair) invite
you to participate in three days of presentations and discussions as well
as tours to the SSRAA Salmon Hatchery at Neets Bay and to two Ketchikan
seafood processing plants. Topics appropriate for technical presentations
are listed below:
Processing Technology Seafood Marketing By-Products
Seafood Biochemistry Regulatory Update Marine Toxins
Seafood Safety HACCP Issues Aquaculture
Microbiology Value-Added Products Fish Handling Technology
Packaging Technology Waste Disposal Environmental Issues
There will be oral presentations and a poster session. Please plan
your oral presentations for 20 minutes (15 minutes for the presentation
and 5 minutes for questions). For both types of presentation we would
like to have an abstract (200 words or less) to include as an aid in
planning the meeting program. Deadline for abstracts is February 1, 2000.
Please indicate on the meeting planning information form if you do not
want your abstract distributed to the PFT meeting attendees.
There will be a student paper competition this year for a travel grant
award. Students wishing to compete for this award should send an extended
abstract, which includes the key tables and figures to be presented at the
meeting. Judging of these extended abstracts will be done by the program
committee. Deadline receiving these in the Anchorage Marine Advisory
Program office is February 15, 2000. They may be sent by mail, fax, or
e-mail as an attached document. Please contact Don Kramer for more
information about this award.
