You are cordially invited to participate in a new national sustainable
agriculture standardization initiative. This standard is being
developed in accordance with the rules of the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI). ANSI requires the establishment of a
transparent, balanced multi-stakeholder process for developing standards
that are recognized nationally and internationally.

The standardization initiative will be launched at a kick-off meeting
October 29-30 at the International House in Berkeley, California.
Details are provided in the attached invitation. A second kick-off
meeting is being scheduled in early 2008, to provide an additional
opportunity for stakeholders to become acquainted with the ANSI process
and determine their level of participation (exact date and meeting
location to be announced.) Through this process, the collective wisdom
of stakeholders representing many points of view will be brought
    together.

Please RSVP by October 22 if you are able to attend the October meeting,
or if you are interested in participating at a later date, by emailing
    johna@leonardoacademy.org <mailto:johna@leonardoacademy.org> .

To learn more about the ANSI process, the origin and structure of the
draft standard for trial use, and next steps, contact
