Hi all-
I am in Santa Cruz, so could help with the visit to the UCSC agro-ecology
program or other farms in the area if needed.

Hi Anil
I can take the visitor around the 11, 17, or 18 to visit a couple of
operations in Hollister, San juan Bautista, Morgan Hill and I'll arrange to
take him to the Agroecology Center in Santa Cruz.
He may need to be in the area the evening before the day of the tour.
Please let me know as you're finalizing the schedule so i can accommodate
competing requests.
PS: August 7-9 is the International Conference on The Future of Agriculture:
Science, Stewardship, and Sustainability in Sacramento. He may already know
about it.

Dear Work Group members,
I received the same email as Anil. Here are some suggestions to get the
ball rolling. We would be happy to organize a day with him here at Davis,
allowing him to visit interested faculty, the LTRAS/SAFS project and the
Student Farm.
He would probably enjoy a visit to UCSC and the agroecology project there.
There are several organizations representing or working with organic
farmers in California like the Organic Farming Research Foundation, CAFFs
and others that may be willing to help organize a tour. Perhaps SAREP can
help or be the organizing entity?
I suggest that an important part of a tour would be visits with some large
scale growers as well as market gardeners and specialty producers. For
example, I know that the Driscoll Company grows a lot of organic
strawberries along the Central Coast, and there are some large-scale
lettuce and other produce companies both on the coast and in the San
Joaquin Valley.

A professor from Hungary (Chair of the Department of Ecological and
Sustainable Production Systems, Corvinus University of Budapest) is
interested in visiting organic farms in California. He will be here from
August 8-21. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in showing him
some places or letting me know of some places he could visit. I will
prepare a list of places and pass the info to him.
Thanks
Anil
