I took the following internship last year and learned a great deal about
organization, presentation, teaching and teamwork. It was great fun and I
would recommend it to anyone.

"HEALTH HAZARDS: TOXICS in the ENVIRONMENT" - Winter Quarter 2000.
Learn valuable career and communication skills through this exciting
Science Education Internship. Build up your resume and gain experience!
The environment poses many hazards to human and ecosystem health. In this
internship you work with other students (in teams) to create interactive
activities and displays which you present to young teens. The purpose is to
challenge teens to think about how their health, or that of their
communities or nearby ecosystems, is affected by pollutants, toxicants, and
other byproducts of our civilization. You get to present your creations in
and out of school and take part in our community outreach events. This is
great experience, lots of fun, and involves you in cross age teaching.
To sign up: Sign up for 3 units of ETX 192 (CRN # 73841) or
(if you have less than 84 units) for 3 units of ETX 92 (CRN # 73767)
Internship meets: FRIDAYS, 1-3 PM, 2366 Academic Surge (starting Jan. 7).
--additional meetings to be arranged--
For more information: Contact Joyce Gutstein at 752-7823 or
