NDA Meeting Minutes – Tuesday, Dec. 7
NDA Announcements:
- next quarter meetings will again be held at 6pm on Tuesdays
- next meeting is January 11
- speakers for winter quarter include a nutritional consultant with her own
business and someone from the Health Education Council who is a nutrition
promoter for schools/colleges
Guest Speaker Cari Norwood from WIC canceled, but Jason distributed her
materials and told us a little about what she does:
- she revises WIC program manual
- she conducts individual WIC program evaluations to make sure they meet the
guidelines

- to get a job with state agencies or social service agencies, it’s helpful
to have an MPH or other Master’s degree, good public speaking skills and to
learn government application procedures
CFPA:
- focuses on expansion and improvement of federal food programs, such as
National School Lunch Program and WIC, to improve low-income people’s access
to healthy food on a regular basis
California Nutrition Council (CNC):
- association of nutrition professionals from government agencies, private
organizations, and academic institutions working towards effective nutrition
policy for California
