Opportunity for 199 units - research Gain valuable experience!
There is an opportunity for 1 or 2 Jr. or Sr. level Dietetics/Clinical
Nutrition students who would like to earn 199 units by participating in
ongoing
human studies at the Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC). The
students will have the opportunity to become familiar with clinical nutrition
research center activities and gain experience with food record analysis using
computer databases.
Duties: The student would be responsible for reviewing diet records and
entering the foods into a computer nutrient analysis program -- several
will be
used: Nutritionist V, NDS, Food Processor. The student may also get
exposure to terminology, dietary data collection, nutrition assessment
methodologies (nutrient analysis and body composition), diet preparation for
metabolic studies, and the research process.
*experiences may vary depending on ongoing research studies at the WHNRC.
Accuracy and dependability is important!
Time involved: days & times are variable depending on your schedule. A
minimum
of 30 hrs./qtr. is required for 1 unit (approx. 3 hr/wk) The student
will work directly with the principle dietitian at the WHNRC.
