JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nutrition Information Coordinator will work in the Nutrition Labeling
group to develop ingredient statements and nutrition information for new
products. Additionally, the person in this position will have the
responsibility to develop nutrition information for schools, Consumer
Affairs and for the health care professional program. Flexibility and the
ability to work well under pressure with multiple timelines are essential
personal attributes.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Database maintenance. Includes updating ingredient database, running
calculated nutrition information for product development on new products,
and reporting on the nutrient testing of existing products.
* Manage nutrition information programs. Includes developing and
providing existing information to Direct Sales, Consumer Affairs, Public
Relations, and Product Development.
* Assist with the Professional Nutrition program. Development of
nutrition information, brochures and management of project.
* Nutrition Labeling and Ingredient Statements. The position will
involve increasing responsibilities in all aspects in the regulatory role
of nutrition labeling.
Nature and Scope:
* Nutrition labeling is mandatory and federal regulations specify rules
for labeling. The interaction will primarily be with the Product
Development scientists and the Nutrition Group.
* The Direct Sales program in schools has become a major initiative for
the company and nutrition support is needed to maintain and update
information for the Sales team.
* The development of nutrition information for nutrition professionals
is a major initiative to support the baked business and the interaction is
primarily with the Marketing Department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
§ Minimum Job Requirements: Masters degree in nutrition or related
science is preferred. (B.S. degree in nutrition and 2 years of work
experience in the food industry will be considered. Excellent communication
and math skills are critical to this position. The successful individual
should be able to work both independently and as a team member.
