PAID BILINGUAL EXERCISE LEADER, Cancer Detection Programs, Gold Country
Partnership, COMMUNITY ACTION FUNDS The mission of the Cancer Detection
Programs Gold Country Partnership is to improve the lives of all women.
Provide tailored education to low-income, un-insured women for the purpose
of increasing knowledge and/or to provide direct support for women needing
CDP services and/or decreasing cancer risk for these women with changes to
lifestyle behaviors. Lead physical activity classes located at a community
clinic site in Woodland (Yolo County) to (primarily) monolingual, Latina
women. The classes are scheduled 2-3 times a week in the morning and class
size varies from 10-20 per session. (2 classes are 60 minutes; one for 90
minutes.) Curricula, equipment and technical support will be
provided. The project will be short term, March 1 through July 1, 2004, at
which time and based on evaluation, may be re-funded to be continued in the
next fiscal year.
Requirements: Evidence of having conducted successful physical activity
classes or activities. The applicant should have basic health education
knowledge, as well as nutrition and/or exercise physiology knowledge.
Ability to adhere to the reporting structure set forth by the Partnership
as outlined in the Community Action Fund packet.
One award made for this proposal not to exceed the amount of $2,500 to
conduct the program.
