Boston University
Master of Science/Dietetic Internship
Students may apply using the ADA national computer
match or a new pre-select/early decision process
approved by ADA.
The Program
Our two-year program combines course work
emphasizing the scientific basis of current nutrition
practice with an American Dietetic Association (ADA)
accredited dietetic internship at a Boston-area
hospital. ALL STUDENTS WHO SATISFACTORILY
COMPLETE THE MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE
ARE GUARANTEED PLACEMENT IN THE
DIETETIC INTERNSHIP. The program accepts 12
students, which allows for small nutrition classes as
well as access to faculty for career advising and
academic assistance.
Students can learn their admission decision and
information about financial aid before the start of
the February computer match process. Students
must apply by January 7, 2004; they will be notified
of their admissions status and their financial aid
package by January 27, 2004. They must accept
or decline the offer by January 27, 2004.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available in the form of scholarships,
loans and teaching assistantships. In previous years,
academically qualified full-time students have received
scholarships from Boston University in the amount of
$10,000-$15,000 per year during their graduate
study. Both full- and part-time students can apply to
qualify for low interest educational loans.
Career
Opportunities
The combination of academic (M.S.) and professional
(R.D.) credentials allows graduates to assume
positions in a wide variety of settings. Graduates of
the program have pursued careers in hospitals,
outpatient clinics, the pharmaceutical industry, the
fitness/wellness industry, education, research, health
policy and program planning, print and electronic
media, private practice and as consultants to corporations,
professional sports teams and restaurants.
Profiles of some of our alumni can be found at our
web site given below. An active networking system
of alumni further enhances job placement and career
advancement.
