    Dear Students:
    >
    >I would like to invite you to join the Vietnamese Cancer Awareness,
    >Research and Education Society ( VN CARES). VN CARES is an organization
    >comprised of UC Davis students and alumni committed to promoting cancer
    >awareness in the Vietnamese community and assisting eligible women in
    >receiving free breast and cervical cancer screenings in the Sacramento
    >area. We are funded by the Health Education Council: Breast Cancer Early
    >Detection Program, sponsored by the UC Davis OB/GYN Department: Breast and
    >Cervical Cancer Control Program and also work with The American Cancer
    >Society, Asian Health Professionals Association, Planned Parenthood, and
    >Breast Imaging Center.
    >
    >Besides our usual outreaches and clinical services, VN CARES will hold its
    >2nd Annual Vietnamese Health Fair, "Healthier Lifestyle: How Nutrition and
    >Exercise Affect Your Risk of Cancer" at the UC Davis Cancer Center on June
    >1, 2002. Our goal is reach out to the underserved Vietnamese community to
    >provide information on all types of cancer and available resources for
    >early detection screenings. We also hope to inform them about women's
    >health issues and of ways to decrease their risk of cancer, particularly
    >through nutrition and exercise, in fun interactive activities in a
    >culturally sensitive environment.
    >
    >To contribute to the success of the Health Fair, we are looking for
    >volunteers to help us develop informative and interactive booths for kids
    >and adults on the topic of cancer, nutrition, exercise and women's health.
    >Speaking and being Vietnamese is not a requirement!
    >
    >On behalf of VN CARES, I would like to thank you for your time and hope
    >that you are able to join us in promoting cancer awareness, women's health
    >and healthier lifestyles.
    >
    >Sincerely,
    >
    >Julie Pham
    >VN CARES Coordinator
