    Salary Range: $14.05 per hour

    Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Food System Analyst, the Program Representative will reach 100 teachers through extension, education, and outreach activities designed to improve nutrition related skills using demonstrations, hand-on activities, visual aids, workshops, and lectures in individual, small group, and large group settings.  These activities support the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (FSNEP) and the Food System Community Development and Public Policy Program in efforts to strengthen community food systems, food security, and related public policy efforts in Alameda County.  This is a part-time .30 FTE (12 hours per week) career position.

    Responsibilities Include 
    • Planning and conducting teaching, training, and technical assistance activities to improve the nutrition related skills of teachers and youth Food Stamp recipients in Alameda County;
    • Outreaching and building partnership with FSNEP to promote including and expanding nutrition and gardening activities in their programs in Alameda County and collaborating in the planning and operation of those programs;
    • Representing the University in the community at fairs, social marketing campaigns, and other public information events;
    • Collecting and maintaining data and preparing periodic reports on various aspects of FSNEP program; and
    • Assisting with Food System Community Development and Public Policy Program operation, training material development, and research activities.

    Skills and Knowledge:
    -
    Ability to travel to sites to conduct programs.
    -Ability to carry and frequently load, transport, and unload supplies up to 20 lbs.
    -College course work in areas related to agriculture, formal and informal education, research, community development/ mobilization, food/nutrition policy, health, and nutrition.
    -Familiarity with Alameda County low-income communities and public need.
    -Ability to interact with diverse clientele, staff, and the public.
    -Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
    -Ability to communicate effectively.
    -Cultural sensitivity.
    -Ability to speak and write a second language (e.g., Spanish) is desirable.
    -Computer literacy.

    Conditions of Employment: Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends) as needed, proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required.
