Essential Functions: The Nutrition Program Representative III will plan,
implement, and evaluate a countywide nutrition education program aimed at
families with children 0-5 years. Work with a wide range of nutrition and
medical professionals to deliver multiple educational
presentations. Manage a variety of simultaneous projects that include
educational events, classes, food demonstrations, and other nutrition
education strategies. Assess community nutrition needs using a wide
variety of methods, and conduct program evaluation. Work with
representatives of print media, electronic media, and organizations'
newsletter staff. Establish working relationships with community groups,
government organizations, day care organizations, individuals, and
professionals. Staff a nutrition phone line. Conduct outreach and public
relations that promote quality nutrition habits for families of children
ages 0-5 within all ethnic and socio-economic groups. In collaboration
with County Director and Nutrition staff, implement UCCE Affirmative Action
policies and programs as they relate to program delivery and assure program
and compliance through "parity" or "all reasonable effort".
Employment Standards:
License: Must have ability and means to travel locally on a flexible
schedule. Proof of Liability and Property Damage Insurance on vehicle to
be used is necessary. Applicant selected must undergo
fingerprinting/background check through the State Department of Justice.
Knowledge of: Feeding young children age 0-5; including nutrition needs,
feeding environment, family dynamics, group ed skills, and counseling skills.
Ability to: Communicate in both written and verbal form; communicate
with media; formulate an effective program; give presentations; organize
activities; form cooperative relationships with staff, other agencies and
parents.
Written skills: A one to two-page essay on strategies for developing a
countywide nutrition education program aimed at parents with children age
0-5 years.
Experience: Experience managing nutrition education program for young
children and their families.
Education: College degree in nutrition or related field; credentials
as a Registered Dietitian.
