Position: Database administrator, Peninsula Library System, Community
Information system, San Mateo County;Full-time with benefits; $21.27-28.37
/hour depending on experience
Duties: Provides expert level analysis, planning, design and support of
complex program database of health and human services and community
information needs. Maintain accuracy of CIP database through regular update
cycles, contacting agencies or researching information; correct, update, and
prepare records for data entry;Design databases, reports, and forms to
collect and disseminate information. Produce publications from the database,
e.g., Guide to Community Resources, Directory of Human Services for San
Mateo County, etc.;Respond to telephone requests for information; prepare
printouts and labels in response to requests;Design and produce maps using
Geographic Information Systems softwares; train library staff in use of CIP
website and other resources
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS or equivalent. Three or more years of
related professional librarian experience.Or, equivalent technical training,
education and/or experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Access, of reference services, cataloging and
classification systems, database development and maintenance, techniques of
developing training materials and technical documentation, and use of
Geographic Information Systems to map and display information. Must be able
to type, word process, or enter data at a speed and accuracy level necessary
for successful job performance.
