Has anyone tried simply asking him to stop?
Thomas Robertson, please do not spam the list. It is an abuse of the
purpose of the list and people find it annoying. Anyone who is interested
in receiving your notices can contact you directly to ask for them. In
general they are not the sort of thing that appeal to the professional
musicologists who frequent the M-List.
While the list is unmoderated, the unwritten rules of Internet etiquette
still apply. Spamming is one of the most fundamental breaches of that
etiquette. It would have been acceptable to post a message *once*
informing people about your newsletter and asking them to contact you if
they would like to be on the mailing list. It is not acceptable to keep on
sending advertisements to a list that has been created for quite a
different purpose.
Perhaps this distinction has not been clear to you. I hope it is now.
Thanks for your cooperation.
