Re: NEH wasting funds on sending spam!

For the record:

The NEH did not "spam" AMS addresses; they asked me for AMS members'
addresses and I gave them to them.

I believe that the NEH does a very good job under extremely difficult
circumstances (i.e. their entire budget seems to come up for the chopping
block every year in the budgetary process). I believe our government's
neglect of the humanities is shameful: the sciences are funded about 100
times as high as the humanities (over a billion dollars a year), without
the agonizing over whether to shut down the NSF each year.

The NEH also has supported the AMS initiative Music of the United States of
America, an extremely successful program from all accounts. As you may have
heard already, MUSA has just been awarded a three-year grant of over
$130,000 from the NEH.

I apologize if the NEH e-mail newsletter offended. To unsubscribe from the
NEH Newsletter, send an e-mail to

newsletter@neh.gov

and type the word "unsubscribe" in the body of the e-mail. Your address
will automatically be
removed.
