I can't remember the title or author, but I read in a book of music
anecdotes that someone told Duke Ellington that his music shows evidence of
influence from Delius. (I'd hit a person who told me that!) Having never
heard of Delius, Ellington got curious and bought some Delius recordings.
A friend visited while one of those recordings was playing, so Ellington
said, "There's my influence!"
