NEH wasting funds on sending spam!

It appears that the NEH has found a more attractive (to whom?) use for
their funds than supporting the humanities -- spamming! This evening, I
received a 14K spam (that's about 14 screens) from neh.gov, in the manner
of an unrequested "subscription" to their newsletter. I have never
corresponded with the NEH by E-mail.

I would be interested to know whether other members of this list have also
been spammed by the NEH. I am curious as to whether they raided the
subscriber lists of mailing lists they consider relevant, or perhaps even
purchased lists of addresses from companies that sell such lists to
spammers.

If your grant application was turned down, or your grant was cut, perhaps
the misuse of NEH funds for spamming has something to do with that.
