Body and Mind, Instinct and Interpretation

Charles Rosen is both a celebrated pianist and a well-known writer on music,
philosophy, and literature. His seminal book, The Classical Style: Haydn,
Mozart, Beethoven, received the 1972 National Book Award and is considered
a classic. His other books include Arnold Schoenberg, Sonata Forms, The
Romantic Generation (which won the Otto Kinkeldey Award of the American
Musicological Society), and, most recently, Romantic Poets, Critics, and
Other Madmen. Recently retired from the University of Chicago, he
continues to perform around the world and write on a wide range of
subjects for The New York Review of Books.

All Public Education Programs at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library
are held at 6 p.m. in the Celeste Bartos Forum, located directly inside the
Library's 42nd Street Entrance. Tickets for Public Education programs are
$10 for the general public and $7 for Library Friends and Conservators
