The Department of Music at the University of Alberta invites
applications for a non-renewable eight-month teaching position
(September 2002 - May 2003). The position pays $30,000
(Cdn.), plus 4% benefits and vacation.
The successful applicant will teach three sections of undergraduate
music theory, plus two graduate seminars in her/his field of specialty.
Desired specialties include cultural theory, critical theory, popular
music, or media studies, but all specialties will be considered.
Although ability to teach music theory is required, qualified
musicologists and ethnomusicologists will be considered for the
position. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in music, though ABDs
will be considered as well.
The Department of Music at the University of Alberta offers both
academic degrees (BA, BA (honors), MA, and Ph.D.) and
performance degrees (BMus, MMus, and DMus), and offers a
stimulating interdisciplinary environment with world-renowned
