First of all, thank you to all who responded to my query about this product.
My email read - I'm interested in any thoughts you can give me as to whether LoisLaw is worth subscribing to. Do you find it time saving and useful enough to warrant the cost?
Your responses were very helpful. Following is a summary.
Positive
1. Great for quick, preliminary research and for copying cases for research
purposes. Then, of course, go to Westlaw/Lexis for more in depth
research.
2. No time constraints - can search combination of databases
3. Very good and Inexpensive Service
4. A good deal for the money
5. Improved Interface
6. Subscribing to LoisLaw has taken the pressure off of increasing
Westlaw/Lexis costs.
7. Has tremendously increased the resources of our County Law Library
8. Good starting point for obtaining and printing cases and statutes which
would cost $10 per document on Westlaw/Lexis.
9. Nice synopsis given for each case
Negative
1. In general - no
2. Would be more useful to the smaller office or solo practitioner
3. Cannot pull up cases or statutes by West cites - must have official state
cites.
4. Could not research California Business & Professional Code
5. No easy way to generate client billing reports
