Here is the list of legal related websites of general interest that I compiled for my presentation to the legal assistants here at the firm. Hope it is helpful to some of you - everyone's input was appreciated and our legal assistants are greatly impressed with the list!!!
** Note - I have to plug this one because not only is it a great list, it is also my group's!
1. Law Libraries Association of Alabama links:
www.aallnet.org/chapter/hotlist.shtml
At this site we have over 300 direct links in various categories of local, state and federal interest.
2. Rules of Court
www.llrx.com/columns/litigat.htm
This site is maintained through LLRX and is compiled by Genie Tyburski. My legal assistant were really impressed with this one - and with LLRX which I also listed for them as a good site to bookmark.
3. Bankruptcy Forms
www.id.uscourts.gov/forms.htm
The forms here are found at a site in Idaho and some seem to be Idaho specific while others are not. I do not do a lot of bankruptcy work so I can't say for sure how general they are in nature - use your own discretion.
4. IRS Forms
www.irs.ustreas.gov/prod/forms_pubs/index.html
Self-explanatory
5. Martindale-Hubbell
www.martindale.com
Duh
6. WashLaw Web
www.washlaw.edu
I like this site a lot more than Findlaw, but I am sure there are reasons to use both.
7. Google
www.google.com
A lot of people recommended this one and I am glad they did. This site is for searching government documents. There is also a mysterious bar that says I'm Feeling Lucky and since I was at work I didn't go there. I am not sure what would happen if I was feeling lucky ....
8. Govt.. Printing Office
www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs
For Code of Fed. Regs, Federal Register etc... I think we have all used this one.
9. Municipal Code Online
www.spl.org/govpubs/municode.html
This site is maintained by Seattle Public Library and provides links to codes all over the country (except, sadly, my own state which must not provide them via hypertext). The legal assistants were also impressed with this one.
10. Law Library Resource Exchange
www.llrx.com
I gave them this site as one to bookmark so they can stay current on new trends and great new websites.
11.CEOexpress
www.ceoexpress
I think this is my new favorite site because it allows you to register as a member (free) and then modify by adding and deleting in order to create your own desktop links. The site provides a lot of sites in many categories.
Here are some that others e-mailed to me, but I haven't had a chance to check out yet:
Federal Web Locator - www.law.vill.edu/Fed-Agency
State Legislative Web Sites - www.multistate.com/weblist.htm
State & Local Govt.. on the web - www.piperinfo.com/state/states.html
Natl. Assoc. of A-Gs - www.naag.org
Natl. Assoc. of Sec. of State - www.nass.org
Hope these sites are helpful to some of you - thanks so much for your input.
All opinions expressed are my own.
