Has anyone else experienced a problem with West sending wrong editions?
We order treatises listed in their law school publications catalog as
"forthcoming". Instead of the new edition we order (i.e. the 4th 1999),
West sends the 3rd 1994.
When we called to rectify this, we were told that West sends whatever they
have in stock. If the newer edition hasn't been published yet, they send
the earlier ed. This seems to eliminate any back ordering and means we
have to verify exactly when a new edition is due to be published and order
it only then. We have one title that they sent the wrong edition 5 times
even after numerous phone calls.
This is the first time I have heard of this no back-ordering policy used
by any vendor or publisher. I have already notified Anne Myers and Chris
Graesser of CRIV. I live in fear of what will happen to the good service
we always got from Foundation Press now that West has taken them over when
we start ordering our course reserves for next semester.
