Native American law questions

Please pardon my ignorance in posting this question . . . BUT since I do
very little work in this area and am a little overwhelmed by this query, I
was hoping someone who does more research in the area of Native American
law would be able to offer some pointers.

I have a student doing research in Native American law who wants to
know how to tell if treaties between particular tribes and the United
States government are still in force. We Shepardized the treaties by
using the Statutes at Large cite (and even looked at Treaties in Force as
a long shot), but wondered if there is some other resources we should be
consulting or any other steps we should be taking.

She is also looking for any sort of legislative history about
these treaties as well, and has consulted the Congressional Record from
the period in which the treaties were written. She plans to explore the
Presidential Papers to see if there are any references there that may be
of help. She found references to an Indian Affairs Committee and reports;
I have consulted our regional depository to find out if any of those
are available. Again, are there any other resources we should be
consulting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Sandy
