HEAD OF TECHNICAL SERVICES

Arizona State University
The Head of Technical Services reports directly to the Director of the Law
Library. Duties: Manages all aspects of the Technical Services Department,
including: ordering, receipt, payment, cataloging, processing and routing
of books, serials and other library materials. Manages government documents
depository; Oversees Innovative Interfaces Inc technical services
subsystems. Supervises 6 FTE classified staff.
Required Qualifications: M.L.S. from ALA accredited library school.
Demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, LC Classification, MARC formats, LC
cataloging practice. Experience with OCLC or RLIN. Demonstrated knowledge
of an integrated automated library system. For appointment at Assistant
Librarian rank, at least three years increasingly responsible professional
experience managing technical services functions. For appointment at
Associate Librarian rank, at least six years increasingly responsible
professional experience managing technical services function. Evidence of
publication and professional or university service appropriate to rank.
Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of current acquisitions and
budgetary practices; knowledge of legal materials; and knowledge of
Innovative Interfaces systems .

General Information: Salary $45,000 - $55,000 depending upon qualifications
and experience. The John J. Ross-William C. Blakley Law Library has a
collection of over 350,000 volumes and a staff of 7.5 professional
