AALL TO PRESENT "COPYRIGHT IN THE AGE OF TECHNOLOGY"
"Copyright in the Age of Technology", a full-day program designed to provide
librarians with the answers to their questions on copyright law as it
pertains to libraries is being presented by the American Association of Law
Libraries with the support of BNA.
This program will take place on Thursday, October 28, 1999 in Chicago at the
Chicago Library System offices located at 224 South Michigan Avenue as part
of AALL's continuing efforts to maximize professional development
opportunities at national, regional and local levels.
The full day program, which runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will include
information on the Copyright Act of 1976, owners' Rights, Fair Use, Fair Use
Conclusion, Section 108: Library Exemption, Digital Issues and Recent
Amendments to the Copyright Act. Instructor, Laura N. Gasaway, Director and
Professor of Law, Kathrine R. Everett Law Library, University of North
Carolina is one of the country's leading authorities on Copyright Law and
author of many books and articles on the subject, including her newest book,
Growing Pains: Adapting Copyright for Libraries, Education & Society.
The AALL Professional Development Program works to provide AALL members with
readily available, high quality and timely educational programs,
publications and services in a variety of formats, using all available and
future technologies in order to enable members to remain current in the
profession of law librarianship.
