Here's a new one. When I started here 3 months ago, I discovered that our
subscription renewal to Hazardous Wast Strategies Update (Andrews) had
gotten overlooked - we received a renewal notice, it got into the bottom of
the pile, the subscription lapsed in May & I didn't get a check out until
July. Then, checking records today, I discovered we hadn't received an issue
(it's quarterly) since last November. I call Andrews and learn that they had
"lost" the publisher of the title, they've just gotten a new one, and it
will resume publication in October. I asked the very nice young lady I was
speaking to how come they could manage to get the invoices out on time but
not a notice about the fact that THEY WEREN'T PRODUCING THE ITEM WE WERE
PAYING FOR!!!! (Actually, I was remarkably calm & polite.) She was extremely
apologetic - seems she had only recently learned of the problem herself. She
assured me there would be an extension of the subscription to balance things
out but agreed that a little, note, a phone call, a message in a bottle,
would have been nice.
Nice to know the publishers are so concerned about customer satisfaction and
quality control.
