Hi all,
While I was out yesterday with a sprained ankle, TPTB (the powers that be),
in their infinite wisdom, decided to change our routing policy. They
instructed my assistant to give all routed items to our IS department who
would then scan them in (!) and route them that way.
After I was scraped off the ceiling by my faithful assistant, I began to
search for ammunition to use to shoot down this idea. I have a copy of the
AALL Copyright Committee Report and a couple of other articles, but I'm
having a difficult time finding a definitive answer to the question of
whether or not such scanning of copyrighted works constitutes a violation of
copyright law. ( I, of course, *know* it does...but I need more than that!)
Please give me something I can copy (fair use, I'm sure!) to give to them
for their edification.
BTW, yesterday afternoon my assistant received news that everything had been
routed the old way eventually, because IS had no idea (DUH!) the volume of
routed material.
