Library Management Systems Specialist

The Pritzker Legal Research Center of the Northwestern University School of Law
seeks a Library Management Systems Specialist to fill a newly created position.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and produce customized reports for acquisitions,
collection management, cataloging, circulation, and, other law library based
services using NU’s Voyager relational database system. Responsibilities
include database analysis and programming. Coordinates and maintains local
hardware, client installations, and software support activities related to the
Voyager relational database with other staff members at the Pritzker Legal
Research Center (PLRC) and with the University Library’s Information Technology
Division and with the University’s Computer Services Department. Supports PLRC
staff in the use of the relational database and its products. Creates and
maintains Web interfaces using the Voyager relational database and other
resources, and the PLRC Web server.

REQUIREMENTS: One or more years experience with: computer systems running on
UNIX servers, relational database management systems (Oracle preferred), NT
Workstation, and experience in programming in one or more of the following
languages: SQL, PERL, Java, C++, C. Working knowledge of: SQL-based report
writers, HTML and web scripting languages, information standards (including
Z39.50, MARC, HTML).

PREFERENCE GIVEN FOR: Experience with library management systems, IIS Web
server, CGI, Visual Basic, Visual C++, SGML, XML. MLS or equivalent from an
ALA-accredited library school.

SALARY: Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director for Bibliographic Services

Preliminary interviews may be scheduled at the annual meeting of the American
Association of Law Libraries in Washington, D.C. July 17-22, 1999.
