proposed bylaws revisions

I was on sabbatical for part of the Spring semester so pardon my late
entrance in the discussion of the proposed bylaws revisions.

Separate from substance, I want to make a plea for us to urge aall's
leadership to plan for more than the usual 30 minutes or so discussion for
the proposed revisions. Up for discussion is who gets to vote and other
very important rights. Discussion of such proposed revisions occurs at
the first business meeting and I think one hour should be allocated at
that business meeting for discussion of the proposed revisions and
amendments. Not the usual 30 minutes (I think I'm correct about 30
minutes) sometimes allocated to discuss proposed bylaws revisions. As a
suggestion, we might postpone the usual reading of various reports which
seldom result in any questions from the membership anyway and have those
reports read at the last business meeting of the convention which we
usually complete and adjourn early. AALL's leadership may have some other
good suggestion for insuring the members have an hour to discuss these
proposed revisions.
