     I think the height shelving idea will accommodate all those
     disgruntled shelves quite nicely but what about the *people* who
     try to use the library? The proposal seems to take the human
     element out of the library equation. If you take people out of the
     libraries I guess you might as well just have a warehouse.
     
     Very interesting and scary paper. Height-shelving sounds like one
     giant step backwards for librarians and information professionals.
     Aren't we suposed to be organizers of information?
     
     
     I would suggest that LC do classification by book color next.
     After all anyone whose worked with a lawyer knows that they may not
     be able to remember the title of a book but they always remember
     its color. ;)
