AALL to Publish Biennial Salary Survey 1999

The American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) will conduct its' 1999
Biennial Salary Survey once again in collaboration with the Association of
Research Libraries (ARL) in Washington, D.C. Julia Blixrud, Senior Program
Officer, ARL, will serve as research specialist and coordinate the survey
and the publication of results. All inquiries about the salary survey
should be directed to Julia Blixrud at (202) 296-2296; or e-mail:
jblix@arl.org.

Survey instruments will be mailed to all AALL library directors and heads of
libraries on June 11, 1999. Responses are due on July 16th.

The AALL 1999 Biennial Salary Survey is the only source for up to date
information about salaries for law librarians and other law library
employees who work in either firms, schools or state, court and county law
libraries. Information is cross-tabbed by position, region, gender,
education, years in current position, years of experience, and membership in
AALL.

The report summarizes salary information for all library types, with
following sections that cover 1) academic libraries, 2) private
firm/corporate libraries, and 3) state, court and county libraries. The
survey is customized to provide information unique to the needs of each of
these three institutional types. Data is broken out by nine geographical
regions in the United States, and further broken down for most large cities
within those regions.

The American Association of Law Libraries was founded in 1906 to promote and
enhance the value of law libraries to the legal and public communities, to
foster the
profession of librarianship, and to provide leadership in the field of
legal information.
Today, with over 4,800 members, the Association represents law librarians
and related
professionals who are affiliated with a wide range of institutions: law
firms; law schools;
corporate legal departments; courts; and local, state and federal government
agencies.
