What does a justice from the Virginia Supreme Court, an editor at the
New York Law Journal, a partner in a Cincinnati law firm, a law school
dean from Georgia, and the president-elect of an Association of Legal
Administrators Chapter have in common? All law school graduates -
maybe, but that's not it! All good people -- probably, but that's not
it either! They all are AALL Chapter VIPs, who will be attending the
1999 Annual Meeting and Conference in Washington, D.C.

AALL Chapters invited many valued members of their local legal and
information communities to the 1999 Annual Meeting through the Chapter
VIP [Valuable Invited Participant] program, created by AALL Executive
Board last year. The program offers AALL and its chapters an
excellent chance to showcase the expertise of law librarians and to
strengthen our position as important players in the legal information
industry. The VIP program will enhance relationships between
chaptersand their local legal and information communities. Chapters
will increase the visibilty and influence of law librarians when local
leaders -- such as judges, attorneys, legal administrators, educators
-- participate in our annual meetings and where we can engage in
dialogues with our colleagues from other law-related communities.

The Valuable Invited Participants who will be joining us in Washington
are being sponsored by fifteen different AALL chapters. The VIPs (as
of June 1) include:
