It is my opinion that these "update alerts" not be sent at all. Any
previous subscription was either cancelled by me or someone else. It's
very annoying and time consuming to receive these in the mail and have
to take the time to check them before I toss them. This is a waste of
time for me and must be a huge waste of money for West!

One final word about the West update notices. What appears to be
justifiably riling some people is West's practice of sending some
update alerts to customers who never owned the titles for which
notices
are being sent. While I have not encountered this happening to our
library, I can understand this as a source for much wasted time and
effort. Keeping track of titles which we currently have on
subscription
or which we update periodically consumes enough of our time. I hope
West will make every effort to ensure that update alerts are sent only
to those who own the title(s) in question.
