Scholarships provided by the American Association of Law Libraries enable
librarians to fulfill educational goals that might not otherwise be
attainable. In 1998, awards of nearly $50,000 made it possible for 15 law
librarians to pursue their educational dreams. Scholarships are offered in
the following categories:
Type I -- Library Degree for Law School Graduates
Type II -- Library School Graduates Attending Law School
Type III -- Library Degree for Non-Law School Graduates
Type IV -- Library School Graduates Seeking A Non-Law Degree
Type V -- Law Librarians in Continuing Education Courses
Selected recipients of these awards also may be designated by the committee
for the John Johnson LEXIS-NEXIS Memorial Scholarship.
Additional funds are provided through two named scholarships:
The James F. Connolly Congressional Information Service
Scholarship is awarded to a law librarian with an interest
in government publications who is pursuing a law degree.
The George A. Strait Minority Stipend provides assistance to law
librarians who are degree candidates for library or law degrees.
The deadline for submitting applications is April 1, 1999. Candidates
should be sure that the entire application packet, including transcripts and
letters of recommendation, arrives at AALL Headquarters by that date.
Scholarship forms are available from AALLNET
(http://www.aallnet.org/services/scholarships.asp), Fax-on-Demand
(732/544-5901, document 310), or by contacting Marcia Bradley, AALL

The American Association of Law Libraries was founded in 1906 to promote and
enhance the value of law libraries to the legal and public communities, to
foster the profession of law librarianship, and to provide leadership in the
field of legal information.
