Position: Head of Public Services
Salary: Competitive

Responsible To: The Director of the Law Library
Position Available: Immediately
Closing Date: March 15, 1999

Under the supervision of the Director of the Law Library, the Head of
Public Services is responsible for providing reference services for the
Law Library's patrons, as well as overseeing all aspects of the Law
Library's Public Services. Some evening and/or weekend hours may be
required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Supervise the Public Services staff.
2. Provide reference services to the Law Library's patrons.
3. Compile and update bibliographies and other Law Library publications.
4. Assist in the instructional programs for faculty, staff, and
students.
5. Perform any tasks as required or assigned by the Director of the Law
Library.

Qualifications:

A Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library
school and prior professional Law Library experience, with supervisory
experience, are required. A JD from and ABA accredited Law School is
preferred. Experience in teaching legal research, web page development,
and government documents is also desirable. This position requires
strong interpersonal and communications skills.

The successful candidate will offer evidence of a strong public service
orientation.

Position: Cataloging Librarian
Salary: Competitive
Location: Building 39, Room B-08
                        4200 Connecticut Avenue, N.W.
Responsible To: The Director of the Law Library
Position Available: Immediately
Closing Date: March 15, 1999

Under the supervision of the Director of the Law Library, the Cataloging
Librarian is responsible for the cataloging of all titles acquired by
the Law Library. Additional tasks include upkeep of the Law Library's
on-line card catalog by Innovative Interfaces, Inc. Must be able to
work in a fast paced environment, and be able to supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Perform all cataloging functions using OCLC and the Innovative
Interfaces, Inc. on-line card catalog.

2. Perform regular and weekly backups of the card catalog system.

3. Assist in the ILL functions of the Law Library.

4. Act as an occasional backup reference librarian.

5. Perform any other task as required or assigned by the Director of the
Law Library.

Qualifications:

Required: A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
library school. Some experience working with computers.

Preferred: Experience working in a law library or course work in law
librarianship.
