Rite-On Programs users

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using the Periodicals Manager for Windows produced by Rite-On Software.

We recently purchased this program, including the conversion program, to convert our Rite-On dos-based periodicals manager to the new WIN program.

We have had nothing but problems with the Win program. To begin, the conversion program left records off, and then scrambled and actually renamed many of the entries for several records. Then, I came to discover that precise title searching is not possible when you are attempting to check issues in on records. For example, you cannot pull up the precise record, i.e., Daily Labor Report--1999, when you do a straight title search. You get 0 hits. However, if you type in DA, (the first two characters), you will get oodles of titles where DA or AD appears. This is completely unacceptable. Further, no one ever told us this when we purchased it. The DOS version is actually more sophisticated than the WIN version.

Does anyone have any comments, suggestions, or ways they have dealt with this problem. I am ready to look for another vendor.

Thanks for your input.
