I've searched the Blue Book and haven't been able to find the exact
rule number which specifies how to cite a treatise in looseleaf format that
is paginated in a non-standard fashion. The rules are clear regarding how
to cite authored treatises with standard pagination and also CCH-like
looseleaf services. What is unclear is how to cite looseleaf treatises like
those published by Matthew Bender that has both section and page numbers.
The page numbers are non-standard in that they usually look like "12-2" or
"12-3.1" and these page numbers can change at any time since pages are added
and deleted regularly. Can anyone pinpoint the Blue Book rule that
specifies whether page numbers should be included for these types of
sources, or whether citing to a section number is sufficient? I've looked
and can't find a definitive answer. Thanks in advance.
